How each monthly bestseller list is compiled.

Publisher members of CBPA have until the 7th of each month to report the units sold during the prior calendar month. e.g March 1-31 units sold have to be reported by April 7. These reports will be the basis of the "May" Catholic Bestsellers list.

The reports sent to our office are compiled and titles are ranked in each of the four categories. Almost every month there are some questions that need resolving, e.g. proper ISBN number, assurance that the minimum number of pages are met, etc.

By the 15th of the month the four lists are e-mailed to general and religious trade publications, Catholic newspapers and magazines that requests e-mail notification, Catholic News Service, etc.

The May Catholic Bestseller list is then formatted for an 11x17 poster, printed, and mailed first class to 450+ Catholic bookstores throughout the country, usually by the 25th of April. This is the May Catholic bestseller list.
