Saint Mary’s Press to Host Inventory-On-Demand Seminar
 
6-29-2007, Winona, Minnesota—Saint Mary’s Press will hold a two-day Inventory-On-Demand seminar for interested publishers August 9-10, 2007. The On-Demand leadership team of the Press will provide detailed information on the process used to determine the viability of on-demand technology for inventory management and superior customer service.
 
The seminar will provide hands-on, practical advice and tools for
 · calculating current carrying costs of inventory when printed and warehoused traditionally, in order to get a true comparison to on-demand costs
 
·
defining corporate goals for new inventory management and assessing the viability of various on-demand technologies to achieve superior cost efficiencies and use of capital

 · 
determining appropriate technologies, raw goods management, and human resources for on-demand implementation

 ·
considering front-end and back-end changes in product flow processes when implementing on-demand

 · 
developing financial models for on-demand metrics, as well as comparing savings of on-demand v. traditional inventory management systems

 · 
anticipating innovations in product development offerings for customers
 
Attending publishers may send test PDF files in advance of the seminar and will be able to see their title printed and bound during the seminar. Various technology vendors will also be present to demonstrate select pieces of equipment and answer individual questions.
 
Saint Mary’s Press has been operating an internal on-demand operation for the past three years. In January the Press converted to on-demand technologies for managing 90 percent of its titles, and uses on-demand technology for front-list as well as back-list management of inventory. In six months the Press has reduced its average physical inventory value by one million dollars and its warehouse space needs by 50 percent.
 
The two-day seminar is free and open to all publishers of the Catholic Book Publishers Association. Advance registration is required. Attending publishers are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, breakfasts, and dinners. Saint Mary’s Press will host lunch both days. The seminar will be held at Saint Mary’s Press in Winona, Minnesota.

Saint Mary’s Press extends an open invitation to all CBPA publisher members to attend a 2-day Inventory on Demand Seminar.  Each publisher is eligible to bring up to 3 participants.  The seminar is limited to 50 participants.

Friday, August 10, 2007    9:00AM –  4:00PM*  
        (*seminar ends at 1:30PM you are invited to stay for vendor demos 1:30PM – 4:00PM)
